The meeting place is a parking lot near the Public House “Stolichniy”. It is not far from the Central Railway Station in Kiev, Ukraine (28 S. Petlyury St.). Google Map Panorama Try not to be late and take your passport with you, because you need to check if everything is correct. Then get on the bus and go back to the past, namely during the USSR.
Here is the dispatch. There is no turning back! There is a long way to go, so you can make new acquaintances and, who knows, maybe a chance meeting will celebrate your whole life. To be as prepared as possible, it is recommended to watch educational video material. So you can get to know the place where you will be closer.
So the long-awaited moment has come ¬– checkpoint “Little Children”. Through this place pass all the tourists who want to get into the ChEZ. Prepare a passport, and carefully listen to the instructions of the special services. This is not a game! You are about to find yourself in the midst of a global catastrophe, so tune in and gather all your courage in a fist.
Prepare your passport again, this time for checking into a hotel. Yes, yes, to the most ordinary Chernobyl hotel. By the way there are already 3. Surprised? But that is not all! In the streets you can see people who work and live here. After checking in, our guide will introduce you to the Museum of Robotics, which participated in the liquidation of the accident, an alley in memory of the “dead” villages and a monument in honor of the heroes of the Chernobyl disaster. Along the way, you will meet the most ordinary people with whom you can easily start a conversation. And do not forget to make a couple of unique photos for memory.
All is the last checkpoint. Do you know what you need to provide? That’s right – a passport. Do not be surprised, this is a state object, it is impossible to get here just like that. But recently, people walked quietly here, it is amazing how terrible the mistakes of mankind are. The village of Kopachi is located just 4 kilometers from the station. Imagine how terrified the inhabitants were after learning all the details of the tragedy. Subsequently, the settlement was completely buried underground, only a few buildings survived, including a kindergarten. Here, toys are still lying around that are not allowed to take children with them.
Do you think you’ve already seen everything in this life and there is nothing to surprise you? Forced to disappoint you! Huge unfinished cooling towers and five power units will cause a feeling … but by the way, you yourself can experience this feeling. Believe me, it is impossible to convey in words. It is amazing what the human mind is capable of at times. To build such power units is not that difficult, it is difficult to even imagine how they did it. The power of each of them is exactly 1000 MW. A special pond was even built to cool these reactors. The main attraction of the station is 4 power unit. And how else, because it was from here that a death demon named “Radiation” escaped. Today it is under reliable protection – two sarcophagi. The construction of the second (“Arch” project) took more than 9 years and about 2 billion euros. Do not worry, he will restrain radiation for another 100 years, so nothing threatens you.
Wanted to visit the post-apocalyptic world? Get it. The first thing that will cause horror is “Red Forest”. During the accident, he received a huge amount of radiation, which forever changed the color of the trees. This is the only place in the world where you can meet such a picture. But we do not stop! Along the way, we are waiting for the legendary “bridge of death”, on which the inhabitants of Pripyat stood, watching with horror the flaming Chernobyl nuclear power plant. You guess what happened to them? Whether this is true or not is unknown, however, the radiation level on April 26th was really off-scale. So we got to the city center. Abandoned, gray buildings with broken windows, around which impenetrable thickets – this is what primarily affects the mind. The only thing that pumps the atmosphere even more is the realization that life has been seething here quite recently. Young people walked the streets, children played in the park, and the older generation rested on benches. Only a few hours, and all this was gone. You will see attractions that no longer entertain children. Ferris wheel, which did not have time to start. Secret factory “Jupiter”, which will never boil work. From this place you will no longer return the same. You will seriously think about the true value of life and the pain that this city is saturated with. The main thing is do not forget to photograph everything, because you will not see such a “movie” anywhere else.
“Duga” has been classified for a long time. And this is not surprising, because such a military facility was of great value to the entire former USSR. He was able to detect the launch of ballistic missiles at a distance of 900 to 3,000 km. This is a gigantic complex, for the maintenance of which a separate town was even created – Chernobyl 2. On the map it was designated as an ordinary children’s camp, but not many children lived here. The town was inhabited exclusively by soldiers and officers. They watched day and night and stood guard over the security of the entire Union. So the first day came to an end. Dinner, shower, sleep – everything is as it should be. However, can you fall asleep after everything you see?
A new day together, where not everyone can visit, we start with breakfast! And go!
Main office of the ChNPP Here you will receive a pass and again pass the verification of documents and personal belongings. After all, what you have to do is not a game! Now you are more than ever close to one of the most dangerous places on our planet!
You will see with your own eyes a unique protective structure designed to protect personnel in emergency situations. After all, this has already happened, remember? It was in this super-bunker that the crisis-situational emergency response center was located in those difficult days of 1986. You have already seen this place in the frames of a documentary chronicle. The story comes to life here.
You will have to get acquainted with the objects on which the control of nuclear reactors, auxiliary systems for generating electricity took place, and where the status of the Shelter object is monitored: – The central control panel (TsShchU-1) – the control point for the open switchgear and the workplace of the shift supervisor. – Block control panel of the unit (BSC), from where all the main technological processes were controlled during reactor operation. It was from here in the year 2000, by pressing the well-known button АЗ-5, the Chernobyl NPP stopped generating electricity forever.
This is a unique electronic computer, which appeared in 1973 at the Leningrad NPP and was called “SKALA” – the Control System of the Apparatus (reactor) of the Leningrad NPP. It will amaze you with its scale. Subsequently, the Rock was also installed at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant. This was the central information link uniting most of the power unit control systems into a single automated control system for the NPP technological process. But this is only the beginning. We move on …
The reactor hall of the power unit, the place where the technological processes took place directly. It was here that all working moments were discussed and the main orders were given. It is here that you will have the opportunity to stroll through the technological channels of the RBMK reactor (Scheme E)
They supplied water to the cooling pond to the reactor core and cooled it.
A memorial to the operator of the MCP killed in the line of duty. He was the first injured during the explosion. His body was never found and remained forever buried under the reactor. The Shelter has forever become his grave.
You are in the past like never before! The place where time stopped on April 26, 1986 at 01:23:47! Block control panel of unit No. 4 – a room with partially dismantled equipment. Just imagine that everything happened here. Here was the very AZ-5 button that A. Akimov pressed, and it was from this place that A. Dyatlov gave his fateful commands. Entering this room you involuntarily freeze, because these walls are literally saturated with fear and despair.
A moment of silence … Let us honor the memory of the first victims of the 1986 Chernobyl accident, people thanks to whom Europe did not turn into a radioactive wasteland.
Are you here! The reactor is at arm’s length. The dosimeter beeps from the level of radiation, and your heart breaks from overwhelming emotions. According to the layout of the Shelter object, they will tell you the story of the construction of the first protective structure over the 4th power unit, as well as acquaint you with the construction of a new safe confinement.
The history of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant will be incomplete without acquaintance with the place of life of its workers – the city of Pripyat. It was an ideal Soviet city for ideal Soviet citizens. Soviet utopia, where happy people lived, who never knew what the Soviet deficit was. Everything stopped on April 26, 1986. Just imagine that 50 thousand people were evacuated in 3 hours. And life froze here forever… Now it’s a ghost town. And only the eye sockets of the broken windows silently look after the traveler who disturbed their peace. Here goosebumps run through the body and involuntarily you begin to think about how much his own mistakes can cost humanity. Here is the central square of the city. Previously, life was raging here, young people were relaxing, mothers and children walked. After all, the average age of the inhabitants of Pripyat was only 26 years old. It was a truly magical place. Representatives of all nationalities of the Soviet Union lived together hand in hand and were always to come to each other’s help… At the sight of a Ferris wheel in an amusement park, a lump involuntarily rises to the throat. But it still did not have time to work and ride the kids. The opening of the park was scheduled for May 1, 1986. But 4 days before this, a disaster happened… Pripyat you will never forget! This place leaves a lasting impression of yourself. A visit to a ghost town has one irreversible consequence – you want to come back here again and again! Welcome to us! Now the call of Pripyat will not let you fall asleep!
