There is a day that all Ukrainians and residents of nearby countries know. This is April 26, 1986. And time: 1-23 nights. At that minute, the 4th power unit of the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant exploded. For 34 years, we all live with the name of Chernobyl in the heart. Who would have thought that many prophecies would come true? The prediction of John the Theologian about the Trumpeting angel and the star named “Wormwood” (“Chernobyl” is another name for the bitter grass – wormwood), the appearance of the Mother of God over the church in Chernobyl, Vanga’s forecast of a great catastrophe in the center of Europe … That night that was pride – became our pain. We know this day as the anniversary of the Chernobyl tragedy. Nuclear energy, which got out of hand, affected Soviet people and excited the world community. Humanity first encountered such a destructive scale of invisible radiation. The main liquidation forces were undertaken by the residents of Ukraine, Belarus and Russia. Immediately a government commission was created, headed by B.E. Shcherbina. It was by his order that Chernobyl NPP transferred equipment, materials, people from all over the USSR … Farms were empty, enterprises were stopped, schools were closed, the population was first 10 km of the zone, and later 30 km of the zone was evacuated. The liquidators were fighting an invisible enemy – radiation. She has only a voice – the crack of a dosimeter. The 4th reactor was a disaster for many years to come. The standard rules that were prepared in case of an accident in this situation did not work. They began to take and act differently – to attack the reactor from above. It was then that the idea of a sarcophagus was born: to hide the entire terrifying kitchen of a radioactive reactor under a concrete arch. The nature of events was extremely difficult to evaluate and predict. There was no right to make a mistake, because it would have cost the lives of millions and millions of inhabitants of the entire planet. Everyone was aware of a possible danger to themselves personally, but rushed to work as obsessed. There was not a single case of refusal or disobedience. Thousands and thousands of people evacuated from a 30 km zone learned to live in a new way. Later, they realized that they had left their homes and apartments not for 3 days as they were promised, but forever. But there are those who did not take root in a foreign land, and they returned to their native homes, which are located in the Exclusion Zone. There are fewer and fewer such homeowners every year. The only thing these grandmothers need is to talk with someone and treat someone. Today, the Chernobyl Zone is more attractive than ever for tourists. The ChernobylTime team is waiting for the quarantine in Chernobyl to end to show you the most interesting places in the Exclusion Zone. Looking at Chernobyl online is not at all what it is. The zone is completely safe and therefore extreme sports enthusiasts from all over the world seek to visit it: to see Pripyat, drive past the Red Forest, encounter the grandeur of the Arc, make sure that life goes on and the city of Chernobyl is inhabited! And from that day on, everyone who visits the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone remains in the soul a bitter aftertaste of misfortune in the soul.
